Uma Ananth, MD

Dr. Uma Ananth is a leader in the use of minimally invasive surgery to improve patient outcomes. She pioneered benign gynecologic robotic surgery at Riverside Methodist Hospital in 2007 and leverages the latest technological innovations to improve and expand the use of robotics in patient care, including vaginal procedures for repair of prolapse and treatment of urinary incontinence. Currently, Dr. Ananth is the managing partner at Comprehensive Women’s Care, Inc., a practice leading the delivery of innovative, compassionate care that engages women in all aspects of their health and wellness. She also serves on the teaching staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital training physicians to perform robotic hysterectomies and myomectomies. In addition, Dr. Ananth chairs the of Knightsbridge Surgery Center Board, is a member of the Physician Advisory Board of The Medical Group of Ohio, and lectures to both medical and public audiences across the country. Dr. Ananth completed her residency at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She is board certified, is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is affiliated with numerous medical associations including the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Ohio State Medical Association, the North American Menopause Society, the Columbus Medical Association, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the North American Society of Pediatrics and Adolescent Gynecology and Society of World Robotic Surgery. Dr. Ananth is also certified as a Menopause Practitioner by the North American Menopause Society. As a volunteer, Dr. Ananth devotes many hours to providing healthcare to underserved communities locally and internationally. She and her husband have raised two children. In her spare time, she enjoys running, reading, and spending time with her family. |
Anita Somani, MD

Dr. Somani is a 1988 graduate of the Medical College of Ohio and completed her OB/GYN Residency at Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She is board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and also holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Miami University. Dr. Somani is interested in the overall health of women. Specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology, she has a special interest in Minimally Invasive Surgery along with the new field of Robotic Surgery. She has trained in nonsurgical aesthetics and enjoys enhancing women's looks with Botox and fillers. She encourages women to follow a healthy lifestyle which includes preventive care, a healthy diet and exercise at any age. Dr. Somani is an American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Fellow, a Past President of the Columbus OB/Gyn Society, a member of the Academy of Medicine and the Ohio State Medical Association, a board member of the St. Ann’s Perinatal Peer Review and past board member of the Knightsbridge Surgery Center. She has served as a delegate and alternate delegate to the Ohio State Medical Association. You may have seen Dr. Somani in a magazine or on television as she is often called upon by the media to present her expert views on current women’s health issues. Dr. Somani has 2 children in college at Northwestern and Case Western and is enjoying life with her husband, as empty nesters. Her hobbies include running, participating in book club with a group of friends, travelling and cooking. She has completed 2 half marathons and will complete her third one in October 2010. |
Mini Somasundaram, MD

Dr. Mini Somasundaram, widely known by her staff and patients as Dr. Mini, specializes in providing women health care with a focus on minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. As an experienced Da Vinci surgeon who has performed over a hundred robotic-assisted procedures, she lectures extensively in the community and to her peers on its benefits, innovations, and techniques. Dr. Mini’s commitment to pioneering reliance on minimally invasive surgery in gynecology is reflected by the strides she has made in training other physicians in the use of the Da Vinci robot both in the greater Columbus area and around the country. Currently, Dr. Mini is affiliated with the American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists, the Society of Robotic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Ohio State Medical Association. She believes it is important to work with colleagues to shape the delivery of patient care and health care policy. Dr. Mini’s roots are local. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed her residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Dr. Mini is Board Certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Women’s Studies from Vassar College. Dr. Mini is married to Dr. Bruce Hennessy, a Gastroenterologist with Ohio Gastroenterology Group. Together they reside in Dublin with their four children. |
